My lack of adventure has never allowed me to stray to Sloe Gin. It is something that home brew enthusiast’s whip up in the pantry ruining a perfectly good bottle of Gin? Home brew then brings back one horrible night involving my own semi fermented homebrew and a student party! No details required! I am sure there are many examples of a home brew Sloe Gin disasters, however the Sipsmiths Sloe Gin changed my view.
Sipsmith Sloe Gin is made from the finest ingredients and is something very different. Their Sloe Gin is made with their own London Dry Gin and then left to rest with Sloe’s picked in Autumn, and a little sugar to taste at the final stage. The result is a truly handmade sloe gin that is subtle, complex and bursting with flavour with each batch being slightly different. I am now on the search for a bottle of their Damson Vodka….. My views might well have changed… but will still keep away from pantry made Sloe Gin even if it does win best in show in the village fete.
