Oblix at The Shard

What do you buy the friend who has everything for Christmas…. You buy them Lunch on the 32nd floor of the Shard. I selected Oblix…. However I am sure that I will be returning to visit AquaShard and Hutong in the future.

We entered Oblix past a team of efficient chefs working, preparing and politely acknowledging our arrival; we were shown to our table. The magic of a window seat, not for those with a fear of heights as the floor to ceiling glass lead your eyes downwards to little tube trains, barges and tiny taxi’s bustling about in the city.

After some deliberation over the menu’s we decided to go for the five course taster menu, the effects of the Gin at 11:45am meant that I passed the opportunity of the complimentary wine paired to each course, in favour of a coca-cola and some sparkling water.

The taster menu is always a great option in my view try lots of new flavours rather than one big plate of food. As the waiter told us, it just kept building and building until the dessert….. The menu did not disappoint! The dessert was the star of the show.

Course 1: truffle flat bread, pancetta and ricotta

Course 2: lobster and scallop ceviche, jalapeno coriander and sweet pepper

Course 3: bbq black cod and coriander salsa

Course 4: Josper Grill, lake district sirloin and beef tenderloin

Course 5: The big sweet
